Common questions

How do I grade a page?
Tap Grade, line the page up inside the dashed guide, and press the shutter. For a worksheet that runs over several pages, turn on Multi-page and capture them one after another; include any reading passage or instructions the student did not write on, and Matdo reads them without marking them. For an essay, switch to Essay mode and edit the rubric first.
What is the difference between Brief and Detailed?
Both grade the same way. Brief gives each mark, the student's answer beside the correct one, and a one-line working check. Detailed adds a worked solution and the step where the student's working went wrong. A marked page costs 5 to 20 units at Brief, by how much work it is (about 10 for a typical page), and 5 or 10 more at Detailed; a context page costs 3. A grade that comes back empty or cut off costs nothing.
What does it cost?
New users get a one-time grant of free units. After that, grading needs a monthly plan — Lite, Plus, Pro or Max — or a top-up that never expires. Each plan's allowance resets every month at 12:01 a.m. your time, on the day of the month your subscription started. The details are in the Terms of Use.
Does Matdo keep my students' work?
No. A page is sent through our grading service to Google's Gemini model to be graded, and we keep no copy of the page or the grade unless you send us a problem report about it. The marked page is saved only on your iPhone or iPad. See the Privacy Policy for exactly what we do receive.
A mark looks wrong.
AI grading makes mistakes, which is why every mark is yours to check. Open the question in the detail drawer to see what the model read, or tap Regrade to grade the page again (a regrade is charged as a new grade). If a page keeps coming back wrong, email us and tell us which question — please don't attach student work.
How do I manage or cancel my subscription?
In the app, open Settings and tap Cancel Subscription, which opens Apple's subscription page, where you can also change plan. Or, on your device, open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, and choose Matdo Grade. Refunds are requested from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
I have a new iPhone or iPad.
Install Matdo Grade and sign in with the same Apple Account. Your plan and unit balance follow your Apple Account; if they don't appear, tap Restore Purchases. Saved grades live on the old device and move only with a device backup or a device-to-device transfer.
Something is broken, or I have an idea.
